Grocery Savings

A lot of people are really shocked when I tell them that Jeff and I spend no more than $40.00 a week on groceries. Well, I decided to let you all in on our secret of only spending only $40.00 a week, and at the same time, eating fairly healthy. Aldi. I had never really considered shopping at Aldi, until I started reading posts on Money Saving Mom last year and saw how much she was able to get with such a small amount of money. I will have to admit that at first, I was a little skeptical, but after the first visit, we were hooked. They have a really quality product for a fraction of the cost of leading grocery stores. Take a look at what we got last Sunday for a total of only $30.83...

Here's a breakdown of the prices...

Cantaloupe- $1.49
Splash Juice- $1.79
Honey Crunch & Oats Cereal- $2.19
24 oz. Ketchup- $0.89
Chewy Granola Bars- $1.59
Peanut Butter Wafers- $1.19
5 Ib. Red Potatoes- $3.49
Rice Cakes- $1.29
Bananas- $0.84
Baby Carrots- $0.99
3 Ib. Oranges- $0.99
Spaghetti Sauce- $1.19
3 cans of Tuna- $0.59 each
Gallon of Milk- $2.69
2 Ib. Tilapia- $5.99
6 yogurts- $2.34

As you can see, that's a quite a bit for $30.00 and some change, especially considering that includes fresh produce, cereal, and milk. If there is an Aldi near you, I would highly encourage you to stop in and enjoy the savings.

  1. Aldi is awesome! My in-laws have one just 1/2 mile from their house and I stock up on things when we're visiting because we don't have one near our home...maybe someday! Thanks for sharing at Thrifty Thursday, come back again!
